I moved to Atlanta almost six weeks ago after a crazy, hectic, beautiful, exhausting few years. I knew God was calling me to take a hot second to breathe, rest, and reset. Sure, a big part of this has been doing things that matter like making new friends, getting more involved at church, coffee dates, decorating my apartment, times with Jesus, working full time, and you know, having a life. But a LOT of this time was spent watching nine seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. I’d giggle, weep, throw things at the screen, cook, work, sleep, nap, write, and stretch while watching a makeshift family of doctors and surgeons save Seattle. I spent a LOT of hours in front of that screen. Sometimes I felt great, sometimes I felt guilty, but here’s what I learned.

1. It’s okay to rest.

2. It’s okay to rest.

3. It’s okay to rest.

4. It’s okay to rest.

5. It’s okay to rest.

6. It’s okay to rest.

7. No really, it’s okay to rest.

8. It’s okay to rest.

9. It’s okay to rest.

10. It’s okay to rest.

11. It’s okay to rest.

12. It’s okay to rest.

13. It’s okay to rest.

14. If you don’t rest, you will die.

Cheers to restful seasons. I give you permission to join me. (And I say that as a fairly successful person who loves Jesus and wants to serve him.) But it’s still okay to rest.

In fact, you must.
