I’m going to show you straight up where our girls would end up, had Remember Nhu not saved them.

The other night, in the Red Light District, we witnessed perhaps the most sickening thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I walked away, because I honestly had NO idea what to do, and took this (blurry, sorry) picture from almost a block away to document it.
Man on a motorcycle, stroking an 8 or 9 year old girl’s hair, smiling and telling her it’ll stop hurting soon. That she did a good job, and the first time is always the hardest. Her supervisor lady laughed along with him, as the little girl cried.
Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I still want to throw up.
Here are some more pictures of the night. To be honest, there’s a lot of mixed emotion that I haven’t processed yet. Some absolute anger, especially walking by naked men on the porches of brothels, obvious sadness for the girls, and surprised sadness for the men. Many times, men rent women for the week, because they are truly looking for love, and so they buy it. During that week, the woman offers sex, yes, but he gets to buy her things, take her on dates, etc. It is all just honestly heartbreaking.
If our girls were not saved from this, most of them would be “seasoned” by now. Seasoning is done when the children are first taken. They are taught how to sell flowers, in order to decrease their shyness and get them used to selling. Once they are seasoned, the sales change from flowers to their bodies.
Right before we left, we saw another little girl. Dancing around in a princess outfit.
Selling flowers.
Pray for our squadmates who are in the bars on a more regular basis. We’ve been asked to pray for them, because the bar owners are starting to recognize what’s going on when American girls come in, buy coke, buy the girls for a few hours to talk to them, and some girls don’t come back. Pray for our girls’ safety!
And most of all, remember that our God is (somehow) Sovereign and in control. Re-read my “Child Trafficking and a Loving Father” blog if you need to. He is good. And He IS rescuing His daughters, one at a time.

  1. Dear Stephanie,
I am crying for these little girls – so glad some have been saved – may more be saved – may they all be saved- please help this team and others who are helping to physically reach these girls and my they reach them for you Lord too.

    Love and Prayers,
    Marjorie

  2. Yes, Steph, that’s what Jesus does through the Holy Spirit…rescues lost souls one at at time. It’s so big a problem, so horrifying a situation, so depressing a circumstance, that maybe God should just flood the earth and kill everyone. Oh wait, that’s already been done. It seems I remember a rainbow…and a promise. And now you are part of that promise by faith. Bring your tears and frustrtion to the cross where Jesus took upon himself our sorrows, and know that for every little soul you comfort, you are expressing the “Christ-life”, the resurrected life, the Father’s promise fulfilled…one girl at a time. “That (you) may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, even being conformed unto His death,” -Philippians . I shed a tear for the girls on the street this morning. Praying daily for you and your team. Love Dad

  3. Steph,
I am praying for the girls as they are virtually slaves, but are forgetting about the men…they are slaves too..to pornography and sex sin. BUT…they ALL need Jesus. I hate what the Thai pimps are doing to these precious children, but men are free to abuse legally! So I hate what the ‘Powers to Be” are letting happen….and Satan! “Satan we come gainst you in the powerful Name Above ALL Names, Jesus: you ARE a defeated foe and therefore your time IS limited as is your power and influence. We pray in the NAME of Jesus that these precious people, who you went to Calvary for are ministered to and saved, and that comfort be brought to these girls and lonliness and love be brought to te men who abuse. We thank you for what you are doing through Steph and her team and we also pray for the emotions of the team as they see such things going on before their eyes. We live in a fallen world, but Praise be to our Lord Jesus, that “He who lives within us is greater than he who lives in the world”, Amen” We have such a Blessed hope and I am thankful for it and will continue to raise you up before him in prayer!!
    Love, Susan

  4. Dear Stephanie, as a mother and a grandmother I felt such sorrow for that little girl, and angered that adults could take such advantage of a child. I would be hard pressed not to go to them and ask for the child. Our prayers go out many times a day for you all. Love, Peg

  5. Oh steph! I cannot stop thinking about the horrible atrocities you’ve shared. My heart breaks for these girls….we have to think of some ways we can help make a difference when you come back. I’m serious- its been heavy on my heart. I want to adopt all the little girls in princess outfits selling flowers!!!!

  6. I stopped breathing when I read about the man on the motorcycle, the eight/nine year old girl…and I cannot even say any more of that store. So thankful for Remember Nhu, the ministry you are getting to do this month and the powerful prayers that you are sending up.
