The first week of July I fly down to Florida with my squad to get ready for Launch! (Not gonna lie, it’s pretty cool that our Launch location is Miami!) Then on July 12th our leaders fly down to Quito, Ecuador and the rest of us follow the next day. We’re going to Ecuador first because of the elections and unrest in Peru right now (keep the country in your prayers!) We’ll spend the first few days in Quito, meeting our ministry contacts and such. On the 18th we begin ministry and…
Launch info and ECUADOR!
And our first location is……
Today! we got our ministry locations. This is The World Race, so again, things CAN (and probably will) change, but here’s the tentative game plan:
The area we will be working in is the Iluman/Otavalo area of Ecuador (two nearby cities/towns). Our ministry location, however, is Huaticocha. I’ve spent about a half hour on Google now, and that place isn’t even on the MAP. It’s in the Amazon jungle, somewhere near a volcano, and 75% of the google website and picture results are from World Racer’s blogs. The first picture that comes up is some naked native men carrying an anaconda, haha. So, we do not know at this point if we will be staying in Iluman or Otavalo and doing ministry there as well as in Huaticocha, or living in Huaticocha as well, or really anything other than that we have a name for this place.
We’re SOOO excited to FINALLY get the ball rolling!
P.S. Two of my wonderful teammates still need funding to be able to launch with us! Check out www.kellymulderig.theworldrace.org & www.kimlabat.theworldrace.org to help ’em out if you can!
