Romania is lovely. Our three teams live on a farm here, and we wake up to the sunrise and frosty fields every morning. There’s a train that goes right through our cornfield, and all in all, it’s just a great place. I’ll work on some more blogs about our ministry here, but first, I want to share with you my team’s experience last night. I was going to sit here and write it all, but my teammate Natalie (www.nataliereeves.theworldrace.org) wrote it all perfectly, so here’s the story:

Tonight my team decided to go outside and watch the stars. We huddled in our sleeping bags and laid on the freezing concrete. We thought about how awesome it would be if God gave us a shooting star.

So we asked.

And then we watched. We watched expecting to get one because we know that God loves to delight us by giving us little packages of love.

And there it was. Right in the middle of the sky, big and clear and shouting to us that not only is God our Father, but our Lover and He loves to romance us. I was smiling so big that I’m pretty sure it was extending off my face and touching both sides of my sleeping bag. This God, the Creator of the Universe, the One who created and commands the stars, just gave us one simply because we asked. So we kept watching.

We believed for more.

And we got more.

We giggled, and yelled “Daddy, do it again Daddy!”

Another shot across the sky. And before it had even disappeared, another. I was smiling so big that I was laughing and laughing so hard that I had tears streaming down my face.

Utter joy.

We started singing, still watching in the sky, and another one shot across the sky. Everyone but Jess and Sam saw the fourth one. While we were singing I got up and started dancing and praying that God would give Jess and Sam another one since they didn’t see the last. Jess stood up with me and we were dancing and freezing our booties off. We decided to go in after the song was over. Right as it ended Sam screamed that she saw another one. I was caught offguard because I didn’t see it. But then Jess got all excited because she saw it too.

They were the only ones that saw the last one. I guess God didn’t want them to feel left out. After all, we did just ask for them to get another.

God is showing me more and more everyday how much He loves to speak to me. He hears me and delights in me and loves to answer me when I ask. He is showing me the Lover side of Him and is continuing to blow me away with it. This is just another sweet thing He decided to do for us, and another reason He has stolen our hearts.

  1. “Daddy, do it again Daddy!” reminds me of our pastor lying out in their yard with his four boys. One of his boys said this to him after they had seen a shooting star. Great picture!!! The LORD is good.

  2. That is the COOLEST story Steph. Oh ye of GREAT faith! You are spiritually soaring just like those stars. Keep embracing “Daddy” first, and embrace those kids with that same love. Blessings to you all.

  3. Steph:

Excellent photo (so awesome, it looks fake — if you know what I mean).

    Beautiful story (Natalie)!

Our Wonderful Counselor, the Almighty God, the Everlasting Father is the Lover of our souls; and how awesome is He to show you His love in such a beautiful, unforgettable way — talk about your Kodak moment!

Keep delighting yourself in the Lord, and He will give you (all) the desires of your heart!

Thank you so much for sharing that with us.

    In His Love,
    Angela
