SOUTH AFRICA has been amazing! Definitely our favorite month of the race so far! Sorry that internet has been scarce – this is Africa! Here are some of my favorite pictures of the month, as well as a video at the bottom that will hopefully make up for the lack of blogging! Thanks so much for your support!!!

Our team cooked all the meals on Christmas for all the volunteers and kids!

  1. Stephanie,

Awesome photos and videos of your trip. Thanks for letting us “follow you” on this spiritual jouney. As your dad would say, thanks for being the Hands and Feet of Jesus as you serve Him WHEREVER you are. God Bless!

  2. Hey Steph,

What cuties!!!! How many do you want to bring home.
I’m sure kids are the hardest to leave behind.

And what about those lion cubs!!! How fun!! They’re so cute!!!

We’re praying for you. Thanks for the great updates.

    Love, Sally

  3. Amazing. as always. So inspired! I am praying for you and thinking of you every day 🙂

  4. Steph,
Oh boy, that video made me cry and remember my BLESSED times in SuidAfrika!! Even the lion park, I even got to hold a lion cub!! Those people are so fantastic there but MUCH has changed since I was there including the backsliding as ‘multiculture’ philosophies and when the cencorship was lifted in the 90’s, the ‘world’ came tumbling in. The country needs our prayers (as does the WORLD!!)…it’s another place turning it’s back on God, the poor and afflicted and getting caught up in greed and focus on the wealthy and the pleasure money can bring (they forget the emptiness all that can bring!!)! I am so glad that a teeny part of SA got to share the love of Jesus with you and you with them!! Y’all will never be the same and either will those in TLC!! Just think of the reunion with y’all and those precious babies in heaven!!!! It is still my prayer to go back someday and minister there again!
    Love, SueMac

  6. Oh, Steph, it was so good to hear from you after all of this time — I’ve missed hearing from you very much. We’ve been so spoiled by the constant communication we had from you in the previous countries.

You look real good in all the photos! I pray you’re feeling as well as you look. You and your team make it look so easy to be doing what you’re doing, when I know that many things about this mission trip aren’t easy at all. Though I’m sure it’s very easy to fall in love with those adorable kiddos. And the animal photos — very cool.

Praise be to God for His protection over all of you (I read your dad’s e-mail about the barbed wire and why it’s there); yet the joy of the Lord shines through each one of you. The video was wonderful and truly touched my heart. Like the others who added comments, it brought tears to my eyes as well.

You are in my thoughts and prayers every day, and I look forward to your next post with great anticipation.

    With love,
    Angela

  7. I knew South Africa would be your favorite. You have such a heart for Africa!!! Continue to be safe. Miss you.

  8. Stephanie,
The video was incredible!!!!!!! Tears started welling up in my eyes watching those precious faces and realizing how wonderful to truly celebrate the Lord’s birth by doing Christmas in such an amazing way in Africa. How better to celebrate HIS LIGHT by shining so brightly for him with those kiddos. Tears of joy and i guess a bit of missionary envy (sorry Lord). This video makes up for the lack of communication we have had from you this month! GOD BLESS Team Cherished Flame –keep shining!!!! Love, Iris

  9. Steph,
AWESOME! These pictures and video are awesome. All I see on the faces of thoses children as well as team Cherished Flame is the JOY of the Lord!! Everyone is glowing and our Father Abba must be pleased with the sacrifice and service you girls are doing for His Glory!!
This will be a Christmas you will never forget and because you share with us, we won’t forget either.
For anyone who has not been blessed by going on a mission trip, may this inspire you to pray the Lord send you – HERE I AM LORD!!
    Love in Jesus’ Name,
    Traci
P.S. I bet a couple of those babies can fit in your backpacks – shhh – we won’t tell!
